VZUG BakeOMatic & Lemony Yoghurt Cake

Even if you do, we can all use a little time saver every now and then.

With BakeOMatic, there is usually no pre-heating required and you also have the option tell the oven what time you would like your food ready. Brilliant!

VZUG’s in store product demonstrations allow you to see and taste CombiSteam cooking for yourself. This recipe highlights the unique BakeOMatic function which sets the time,temperature and also regulates the moisture in the oven to achieve perfect results everytime. You literally just set, forget and then wait for the beep to tell you it’s ready. Put simply, it’s Swiss perfection!

Ingredients:

  • 210g plain flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 220g caster sugar
  • pinch salt
  • 1 cup Greek yoghurt
  • 3 XL eggs
  • 1 lemon (zested & juiced separately)
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract
  • 125 ml rice bran or sunflower oil
  • 125g icing sugar (sifted)

Method:

  1. Place the flour, baking powder, sugar and salt in a large mixing bowl. Use a hand whisk to combine.
  2. In a separate bowl whisk together the yoghurt, eggs, lemon zest, vanilla and oil.
  3. Grease and line a loaf pan with baking paper. Pour in the batter.
  4. Place into your V-ZUG CombiSteam on the oven rack on Level 2.
  5. Select BakeOMatic, Loaf Cake > Medium Brown and Start.
  6. When automatic timing is complete remove and allow to cool in the tin for 10 minutes.
  7. Remove and place on a cooling rack. 
  8. Combine the icing sugar with the lemon juice. Drizzle over the cake. Slice and serve.
